Writing Prompt for Graduate Course in Early Modern and Modern Church History, for Hybrid Students at Duke Divinity School Spring 2024
This writing assignment was created for graduate seminary students in the second church history course of their program. Before this assignment, students had opportunities in both church history courses to write and revise multiple essays in the genre of historical exegesis.
The intention behind this assignment is to provide seminary students with the opportunity to apply their learning in their church history courses to a ministerial setting, particularly by developing a “meta” level analysis regarding the historiographical claims that might helpfully or harmfully be drawn from church history for a wider population.
